About the event

Come join Carly Pinto of Nurturing through Nature for an incredibly special experience at the magical farmstead Goldberry Woods!

Nurturing through Nature, out of St. Joseph, MI, offerings have been intentionally crafted over the years to alchemize my unique education in holistic nutrition, herbalism, and community wellness.

In this experience, you will learn about plants that are growing during this season, how to identify them, the medicine they offer, how to extract and work with their medicine, as well as how to best care for our environment and maintain a mindful foraging practice.

These invaluable sessions can be the musings that spark your fire for herbalism and sharing this work with your family and community.

What to expect:

  • Learn to identify 7-10 medicinal plants
  • Basic information about beginning steps of foraging, safety and environmental considerations
  • Learn to make three sample sized remedies with what we foraged, including supplies and instructions

Things to bring:

  • Comfortable, preferably closed toe shoes for hiking around varied terrain
  • Water
  • Notepad or some way to take notes

Carly Pinto's Mission - To be a guide in helping you cultivate a deep and nourishing relationship to food, plants, healing and ultimately yourself

  • My journey in the field of holistic health began when I was led astray by conventional medicine for my own health struggles. Upon encountering a health practitioner that helped me make some profound improvement in my health, I was moved deeply. My eyes opened to the realm of using food, plants and lifestyle shifts as medicine. I knew this was my work to do after this experience. This newfound passion led my to pursue a career in holistic nutrition.
  • After receiving my Bachelors of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics with a minor in Psychology, I attended National University of Natural Medicine to receive my Masters of Science in Nutrition, which equipped me with an incredibly unique and naturopathically-influenced holistic nutrition education.
  • I am certified in functional blood work assessment, and have additional trainings and intensive studies in herbal medicine and traditional medicine practices, from nationally-renowned herbalists and accredited institutions for my continuing education, making my offerings are truly one-of-a-kind. I pride myself in always identifying as a curious, open-minded, life-long learner.

About Goldberry Woods:

Julie and Eric are college sweethearts who both became engineers. They honeymooned at a B&B in Kauai, which was a working flower farm. After that experience, they continued to stay at unique inns whenever they got the chance. They also vowed that someday they would become innkeepers ourselves.

Julie spent eight years working in processed food plants (imagine a million gallons of corn syrup per day!). Soon after the birth of our first child, Julie decided to stay home and spent ten years raising our three fabulous kids. With Eric’s support, she began to build a home around the idea that homemade was best made.  Inherited and found items became integrated into the family’s décor. A family garden supplied the basis of our from-scratch meals. She decided that she no longer wanted to return to a career in processed foods but that she was ready to share her hospitality, love of food, and passion for the earth with guests.

They lived in the busy Chicago suburbs but began spending every possible moment vacationing in Michigan’s Harbor Country. On a week-long family vacation in 2011, they stumbled across the old River’s Edge B&B in Union Pier, MI. The property was close to the beach with beautiful woods and enough pasture to create a biodiverse organic farm. Though they thought that there may be too many obstacles, every detail fell into place in a serendipitous fashion and Goldberry Woods opened in May 2012.

They are so in love with Harbor Country, and they can’t wait to welcome you to Goldberry Woods.
