Meditation is a practice and when done in community, your practice has the power to expand exponentially. At Chi-Town Shakti we believe meditation is an invaluable resource and catalyst for transformation which we feel honored to share with you.
We welcome all, regardless of ability to pay. You choose to pay $0, $5, $7, $10, $15 or $20. Your donations help support us in providing continued classes and programming for our beloved community (and that includes you!). PLEASE USE YOUR browser rather than the Union app to effectively submit a donation.
All classes at Chi-Town Shakti are taught by Certified ShambhavAnanda Yoga™ Meditation instructors. The Tuesday class is a 30 min class including Guided Meditation and Q and A. Chi-Town Shakit offers a Sunday 1 hour class in-person and online.
WHAT TO EXPECT
We will begin with a talk, then you will be led in a group meditation practice. All levels of experience are welcome! We close with about 3-5 minutes of Q and A which is a chance to connect more deeply as a community and draw support from our teachers who have deepened their own experience through consistent practice.
NOTE: On the last Tuesday of the month enjoy a soothing Yoga Nidra practice, a guided meditation you may choose to enjoy while lying down, in bed or propped up on pillows with your favorite blanket. Deeply let go, melt and relax....
HOW TO PREPARE
- Be on time
- Sit in a chair or on cushions
- Dress in layers or have options (body temp can change)
- Bring an object into your space that connects you to your heart
ABOUT CHI-TOWN SHAKTI
Chi-Town Shakti is a ShambhavAnanda Yoga® Affiliate Center, part of the extended family of ShambhavAnanda Yoga®. We are committed to this lineage of yoga and have been given the blessing of Sri Shambhavananda to share these authentic teachings with you. When you connect with us, you are tapping into a reservoir of spiritual energy and a vibrant community of practitioners that can serve you along the path of your growth.
In 2008, a small group of our practitioners, led by husband and wife team, Akaram and Bhakti White, opened the doors of Chi-Town Shakti. The group had dreamed of having their own space to explore this ancient tradition of Yoga in a present practice. Their hard work combined with heart work laid the foundation for a space where the energy just feels special. In 2016, Bhakti and Akaram relocated to Colorado to be near family and our teacher, Babaji Shambhavananda.
Since then, dedicated ShambhavAnanda Yoga® practitioners, Aasha Elliott and Elena Tinaglia graciously took the reins and good karmic fortune as co-owners of Chi-Town Shakti. During the pandemic years, life shifted for Elena as she and her partner began to build their own tiny home with plans to travel and work remotely. Currently, Elena assists with teacher trainings and teaches virtually and Aasha has taken on full ownership, carrying on the dream of leading a studio where the rich and authentic practices of ShambhavAnanda Yoga® shine forth. The studio stands as a unique gem in the Chicago Yoga community offering a depth of experience that comes from the dedicated teachers and practitioners who not only teach but truly live the practice of Yoga. Come visit us and experience for yourself what our teachers, classes, workshops, teacher trainings and events can offer along your Yogic path!
“You need to be able to dive into your own heart and find that place of deep, deep nourishment inside. And then you get happy for no reason . . . just as the sun is up there radiating all the time, whether we see it or we don’t see it, whether it is cloudy or whether it is night time. In the same way, divine consciousness is inside of us radiating all the time . . . The purpose of a spiritual practice is to help you find that divine consciousness within.” -H.H. Rishi Maha Mandaleshwar Sri Shambhavananda
